MEP Delighted By World Horse Welfare Success
11th February, 2010World Horse Welfare has succeeded in getting their written declaration on the welfare of horses in transit onto the European Parliament’s agenda.
Emma McClarkin, Conservative MEP for the East Midlands, pictured signing the declaration early in September 2009, is overjoyed at their success .
Miss McClarkin comments from the European Parliament in Strasbourg:
“I am delighted that World Horse Welfare succeeded in obtaining over 50% of MEPs signatures to see the important issue of the welfare of horses in transit placed on the European Parliament’s agenda.”
“There is no need for horses to have to endure horrific conditions on long journeys which results in disease, dehydration, exhaustion and injury.”
“I am hopeful that the European Parliament will be able to find a way to reduce and improve transport times and conditions.”
