Andrew Bingham MP and Emma McClarkin MEP prepare for 2011 ‘High Peak Hike’

With less than a week to go before High Peak MP Andrew Bingham and East Midlands MEP Emma McClarkin start their annual High Peak Hike, the two politicians are hoping for nice weather, and appealing for more people to sponsor them.

The Conservative duo have done three of the hikes in previous years for local charities, and their fourth hike will be on 16th – 18th August, in aid of Help for Heroes. Previous hikes have seem them tackle the 3 highest peaks in the area, as well as the four points of the compass.

This year’s hike has a ‘Roman Ramble’ theme, as Andrew and Emma follow the path of Roman Roads from Glossop to Brough, then down to Buxton.

Andrew said:

“I’m really looking forward to setting off on the Hike, and as well as hoping for good weather, it would also be great to see people supporting us as we walk through Glossop and Buxton. I hope that people will continue to sponsor us so that we can raise much needed money for Help for Heroes.”

Emma added:

“I can’t wait to set off as I love walking in the High Peak – it’s absolutely gorgeous around here. I’m so glad we’re doing it for Help for Heroes this year, as our service men and women do so much for all of us.”
