Anti-bullying classes praised by Emma McClarkin MEP
24th May, 2012East Midlands Conservative MEP Emma McClarkin is today backing an organisation that aims to equip students with skills to deal with bullies and intimidating situations.
MAX Conflict Management was founded by Mark Wingfield, who made it his aim to complete free one-hour sessions about how to handle threatening situations for 2012 pupils in the Derby area before the start of the Olympics later this year. He has now expanded his project to the wider East Midlands region and beyond.
In a further bid to add fun to these important lessons on how to effectively deal with threatening situations, Mark will use foreign languages, which are taught and are part of the curriculum of the schools visited. His current repertoire consists of talks in German, French and Spanish.
Supporting the initiative, Miss McClarkin said:
“Tackling bullying in schools and outside in everyday life is an important issue we need to address. Young people need to learn how to understand this behaviour and how to respond to it so we can eradicate this problem and have schools safeguarded as a secure place for students to learn. This also extends to everyday life around the school and home, where threatening situations may arise outside of school hours.
“I think it’s fantastic that MAX Conflict Management are offering these free taster sessions, and I would encourage schools across the East Midlands to find out more about them.”
MAX Conflict Management will continue to offer free 15 min sessions once the Olympics have begun.
