East Midlands MEP Deep in the Community

East Midlands MEP Emma McClarkin visited voluntary groups, including Scoot Safe, at Market Deeping Community Centre on Monday.

The Conservative MEP was there to show her support for local voluntary groups, as well as to talk about European Union funding and EU support for volunteering.

After talking to the different groups about the EU and funding, Miss McClarkin was also able to gain an understanding of some issues faced by mobility scooter users, as she tried her hand at driving one and manoeuvering it around obstacles.

Miss McClarkin said:

“It was an enormous pleasure to meet with Voluntary groups at Market Deeping Community Centre. From Scoot Safe to the Wildlife Trust, Womens’ Community Group, to Local Heritage as well as the Photography club.

“All the volunteers have given up their spare time to make sure the Deepings has a great community centre providing the local community with fantastic facilities and opportunities to learn, connect and feel part of their community.

“Volunteering in the community is of huge importance. I have been very impressed today and Deepings volunteers should be very proud.”
