East Midlands MEP re-adopted as candidate for 2014 elections
15th May, 2013East Midlands Conservative MEP Emma McClarkin was re-adopted by East Midlands Conservatives last weekend, and will once again stand as a candidate in the European elections in 2014.
Miss McClarkin, who lives in the region in Market Harborough, was endorsed by the panel representing Conservative members from across the East Midlands, and will therefore be the top Conservative candidate in the regional ‘list’ system used in the European elections.
Miss McClarkin said:
“I am delighted to have been re-adopted. It is a huge honour and great privilege to serve the people of the East Midlands.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed the last four years as MEP but there is still much work to do. I look forward to the year ahead leading to the European elections in 2014 and the debate on our future relationship with the EU. Our message is clear – if you want an in or out referendum the Conservatives are the only party who can deliver this.”
Stephen Mold, East Midlands Conservatives Regional Chairman, said,
“Emma has been a very good MEP for the East Midlands over last 4 years, achieving some hard fought victories through rolling up her sleeves and negotiating hard on behalf of local people, especially in the area of trade and jobs. We hope the people of the East Midlands take the time to appreciate her hard work when it comes time to vote.”
