East Midlands MEP backing Notts Forest Ladies FC bid for funding

Local Conservative MEP Emma McClarkin has today backed Nottingham Forest Ladies FC in their bid to attract urgent investment for the forthcoming season.

Miss McClarkin, who is the Conservative spokesperson for Sport in the European Parliament, is urging local businesses to come forward and support the club, which has had promising results in the pre-season.

The club, which has a history dating back to the 1960’s, finished second in the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division in 2012/2013. However, if the club fails to secure enough funding by Monday (19 Aug) it will be forced to close.

Miss McClarkin said:

“I was very concerned to learn about Nottingham Forest Ladies’ situation, and I am trying to do everything I can for them in the short amount of time remaining. The club is fantastic for Nottingham and it would be enormously sad if they had to fold. I would urge any local companies who want to help them to get in touch with Steven Gray and pledge their support.”
