East Midlands MEP Emma McClarkin elected Vice President of the Youth Intergroup.

East Midlands MEP Emma McClarkin has this week been elected as the new Vice President of the European Parliament’s Youth Intergroup.

Intergroups can be formed by Members from any political group and any committee, with a view to holding informal exchanges of views on particular subjects and promoting contact between Members and civil society.

Following her appointment as Vice President, Miss McClarkin said:

“I’m absolutely delighted to be elected to this role, and I hope to be able to use it to champion issues that young people care about, as well as use it to try to get more young people interested in politics and how they can affect the world around them.

“As a young politician I feel it’s important to give a voice to our young people in the Parliament. This is really crucial work – it’s very important that the European Parliament listens to and considers young people when it debates legislation, and I intend to push for that as much as possible.”
