Emma McClarkin MEP visits Rutland Water Nature Reserve
31st October, 2016Rutland Water which is managed by Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust in partnership with Anglican Water is the largest artificial lake in England and one of the largest in Europe. Opened in 1976 it generates up to £100 million annually whilst providing up to two thousand three hundred jobs.
Rutland Water Fly Fishing Adventures is one of a number of businesses that operate from the world famous Rutland Water and offers award winning fly fishing tuition, corporate team building days, guiding and breaks for anglers of all skills and groups of all sizes.
Emma McClarkin, MEP for Rutland said:
“Today I was able to see first-hand how exciting businesses such as Rutland Water Fly Fishing Adventures are ensuring that Rutland Water maintains its reputation as a hub of tourism across the country. As a region, we can be extremely proud that tourists come all over the world to visit England’s smallest county, and long may it continue!”
Miss McClarkin was also taken for a fly fishing lesson and added:
“Despite being a complete novice at fly fishing, I can see why angling is such a popular sport in our country. I would encourage those that haven’t already, to give it a go at Rutland Water.”
