23rd February, 2017Emma McClarkin MEP joined a delegation from the Committee on International Trade of the European Parliament in an official visit to Mexico to discuss trade relations between the two parties.
Whilst in Mexico City, Miss McClarkin met with Duncan Taylor CBE, British Ambassador to Mexico, and the Department for International Trade to talk about business opportunities for British small and medium sized enterprises in Mexico, and the future bilateral trade relationship between UK and Mexico.
Miss McClarkin said:
“Mexico is a key emerging market with vast investment and trade opportunities for UK companies. It is important that we nurture and develop the existent relationship between the two countries and do our best to support our businesses who want to invest and trade with Mexico.”
She added:
“By being here and being able to speak with several Mexican trade officials, it is very obvious that Mexico is an increasingly trade-friendly country open to serious and reliable partners. We must seize the opportunity and discuss a strategic partnership that leads to a reduction of trade barriers and an eventual free trade agreement.”
