Rugby Mad MEP welcomes World Cup

East Midlands Conservative MEP, Emma McClarkin, who is the Spokesperson for Culture and Education commented today about England’s World Cup bid; “I am absolutely thrilled to bits that England have won the bid to host the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

It will provide an excellent platform for sport in the whole of the UK, as well as bringing lots of new participants to the game, and I think it will encourage younger people to get more involved in sporting activities.”

Miss McClarkin worked for the Rugby Football Union before becoming elected to the European Parliament, and whilst in her role she was an instrumental part of the team who secured the bid.
