Rugby Playing MEP delighted by Tigers’ triumph

Emma McClarkin, Conservative MEP for the East Midlands, is elated after the Leicester Tigers’ victory against South Africa.

Miss McClarkin is a keen rugby follower and captained the Parliament’s Touch Rugby team in Westminster before being elected as an MEP. At that time she was employed as the Government Relations Executive for the Rugby Football Union.

She said:

“The Leicester Tigers’ 22-17 win over South Africa was truly fantastic.

“As a rugby player myself and keen follower of the sport I was ecstatic to see a local team, the Leicester Tigers, beat the current world champions South Africa in my constituency.”
