Emma McClarkin MEP urges support for Comic Relief on Red Nose Day
14th March, 2013East Midlands Conservative MEP Emma McClarkin has today urged local residents to support Comic Relief and give what they can on Red Nose Day 2013.
This year’s Red Nose Day will be the 14th running of the biennial telethon event, and Miss McClarkin is supporting efforts to raise more money than ever. Comic Relief, which was first set up in 1985, has so far raised over £800 million and this money has changed lives all over the world.
Miss McClarkin has herself witnessed the good work that this charity does when she had the opportunity to visit orphanages in Rwanda that had benefitted from the money raised in the UK by Comic Relief.
Miss McClarkin said:
“Red Nose Day is a fun way to help raise money for an amazing cause, and to help highlight the plight and suffering of those who do not have the privileges that many of us enjoy.
“I will be supporting events around the region and will be in the East Midlands reminding everybody to dig deep and help the relief fund that has already been able to help so many.
“I would strongly urge people across the region to give what they can, to help give disadvantaged children in the UK and across the world a better quality of life.”
