East Midlands MEP visits local Ashbourne group
21st March, 2014East Midlands Conservative MEP Emma McClarkin today visited the Ashbourne and District 50+ Forum to talk about her work in the European Parliament.
The Ashbourne and District 50+ Forum gives a platform to local issues and to help influence agencies and organisations who provide services mainly for the 50+ Community.
Miss McClarkin talked to them about various aspects of the EU, before taking questions about a range of topics.
Afterwards, she said:
“It was a pleasure to speak to the Ashbourne and District 50+ group today about my work in the European Parliament and to discuss some of my achievements over the five years, including the campaign to support connectivity in rural communities with the rollout of broadband in rural areas.
“We had a good exchange of views on EU reform, bringing the Strasbourg Parliament to an end, and discussions on how to use EU funding to support local issues.”
