Meet the European Conservatives!

Conservative MEPs with their European colleagues in the European Conservatives group (ECR) in the European parliament have come up with a novel way to respond to comments about “faceless politicians in Brussels”.  All 54 of their faces are now featured on a new pack of playing cards.
 
Recently-elected East Midlands MEP Emma McClarkin appears as the Six of Clubs, while Roger Helmer MEP — noted for his sometimes controversial views — appropriately features as one of the two Jokers in the pack (the other is the equally controversial Dan Hannan MEP).  The ECR Group Leader, Polish MEP Michal Tomasz Kaminski, gets top billing as the Ace of Spades, while the Conservative Leader in  Brussels, Timothy Kirkhope, becomes the Ace of Diamonds.
 
Commenting on the initiative, Emma McClarkin said “Some people seem to think that Brussels is remote and irrelevant.  Hopefully this fun idea will help to give MEPs a human face, and bring us closer to our constituents”.
