FTSE 100 company welcomes MEP to their Nottinghamshire office
21st September, 2015Local MEP Emma McClarkin visited a world-leading information-services company with a base in Nottinghamshire last Friday.
Experian provides data and analytical tools to clients around the world, including helping businesses to manage their credit risk, prevent fraud and target marketing offers. It is also a major supplier of consumer credit reports and credit scores. The FTSE 100 company welcomed the East Midlands MEP to their Nottinghamshire offices, where they talked about the impact of European Union legislation and how it affects global companies.
Miss McClarkin said:
“It is great to see the commitment of large companies like Experian to being based and growing right here in the East Midlands in Nottingham. Experian employs more than 2,000 people here, and I’m pleased to have visited them today to find out what their concerns are, and how they see business developing in the future, especially with recent developments in Europe on aspects of data protection and wider digital issues.
“With headquarters in Dublin, California and Sao Paulo, we are very lucky in Nottingham to have a company of this size, with an annual turnover of $4.8 billion last year. It goes to show that as a FTSE 100 company, you don’t have to be based in London and I hope that Experian can be an example to others who are looking to locate or relocate within the UK.
“What I need to ensure as a Member of the European Parliament is that the UK within Europe is working for them. The Digital Single Market is just one of these issues, and I will be following its progress closely to ensure that it benefits both consumers and businesses of all shapes and sizes.”
