Support for local Brewery from East Midlands MEP
13th October, 2015Local Conservative MEP Emma McClarkin pledged her support to local breweries today, during a visit to Everards Brewery in Leicestershire.
The East Midlands MEP, who is the Vice-President of the European Parliament Beer Club, gave her backing during a tour of Everards’ facilities, which was arranged as part of the All Parliamentary Beer Group’s ‘Brew with your MEP’ campaign. The group, which was formed in 1993, promotes understanding of the UK’s beer industries among Members of Parliament and Members of the European Parliament.
Everards is an independent, family business based in Leicestershire, which was established in 1849. Their pub estate comprises over 170 pubs that vary from village inns to community locals across the Midlands. They brew high quality award winning ales and have a core range featuring Beacon Bitter, Tiger Best Bitter, Original Ale and Sunchaser Blonde, as well as a fast paced and innovative range of limited edition brews throughout the year.
Miss McClarkin said:
“Pubs are such an important part of local communities, and I’m keen to support them and breweries whenever possible. The ‘Brew with your MEP’ campaign is a great initiative, showing us as MEPs what goes on behind the scenes in the beer industry, and giving us a greater appreciation of the work it takes to keep a successful brewery in business.”
