Britain’s youngest MEP calls for young people to get in touch
13th January, 2010Emma McClarkin, MEP for the East Midlands, is helping draft an EU strategy for youth. There are a broad range of issues that this strategy covers including youth unemployment, the transition from education to work, financial difficulties preventing or hindering further education and cultural investment for young people.
Emma McClarkin MEP, Member of the Culture and Education Committee says:
“The EU recognises that it needs to communicate better with young people.
“I believe that investing in youth is crucial for the future of European societies. It is vital that EU countries think about how their young people can be empowered to achieve all they can.
“I want young people in the East Midlands to contact me with their ideas about how the EU can help young people and what it should be emphasising in its strategy.”
If you are a young person and have a comment or idea for the EU strategy for youth then please get in touch with Emma McClarkin MEP by emailing or calling 01858 419709.
