Emma McClarkin MEP joins Delegations in European Parliament
19th March, 2012It has been confirmed this week that Emma McClarkin MEP will be working as a full member of the EU-India Delegation as well as being a substitute member of the EU-Canada Delegation in the European Parliament.
The news follows on from Ms McClarkin having joined the International Trade Committee earlier in the year and this combination will allow her to work on opening up trade for businesses in the East Midlands across the world, not just in Europe.
Emma said:
“I am very pleased to have joined the EU-India Delegation. This will allow me another opportunity to promote businesses in the East Midlands, and will also be important in negotiating a free-trade agreement between the EU and India.
“I also hope to work with the EU-Canada Delegation to promote our interests, and I look forward to interesting discussions with both committees.”
The EU-India Delegation was formed in 2007 to promote relations between India and the European Union, including business links. One of the major issues the EU-India committee is currently dealing with is the EU-India free trade agreement.
The EU-Canada Delegation is one of the oldest delegations in the European Parliament, having been established in 1975. One of the main discussions at the moment is how to resolve the financial crisis, and the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
